Youzhny reaches second Munich final

Former World No.8 Mikhail Youzhny reached his second final in Munich when he defeated home favourite Daniel Brands 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The Russian is looking to triumph for the first time since he reached the Munich final in 2007 (l. to Kohlschreiber). He reached the semi-finals on his debut in 2002 (l. to El Aynaoui) and reached the quarter-finals in 2003 (l. to Federer).

He will face fourth seeded Tomas Berdych who survived a mid-match scare to defeat France’s Jeremy Chardy 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.

Berdych is looking to win his fifth ATP World Tour title since triumphing in Tokyo in October 2008 (d. del Potro). He is thorugh to his third final in Germany, the first in Munich. He won his first grass-court title in Halle two years ago (d. Bagdatis) and was runner-up the previous year (l. to Federer).
