World No.3 Venus Williams joined her sister Serena on the sideline as she was upset 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 by Russian Alisa Kleybanova.

Serena Williams, who retired from her first match due to a knee injury, watched from the stands as World No.26 Kleybanova had Williams running from side to side on the court.

Williams battled back from losing the first 6-3 to take the second set by the same scoreline.

But the pressure proved too much for the American as Kleybanova hauled herself to 7-5 in the decider after 2 hours and 13 minutes.
