World No.4 Novak Djokovic and World No.1 Rafael Nadal are one win away from clashing at the Madrid Masters, in what would be their 18th career meeting.
Djokovic recorded his 36th win of the season after beating Italian Andreas Seppi 6-4, 6-4 for a place in the quarter-finals. The Serbian also beat Seppi on route to his hometown title win in Belgrade.
The 21 year-old converted three of five break point opportunities, won 70 percent of service points and hit four aces to improve to a 4-0 career record over his Italian opponent.
Djokovic will next meet Croatian Ivan Ljubicic after he upset World No.7 Gilles Simon 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 by saving 10 of 12 break points in thier 2 hour and 10 minute encounter. Ljubicic improves to 14-10 for the season, while Simon drops to 18-13 highlighted by semi-final appearances at Marsielle and Dubai.
