Sweden moved one step closer to reaching the ARAG ATP World Team Championship final, after Robin Soderling beat Rainer Schuettler 6-0, 6-0 in just 46 minutes.
Soderling dropped just 16 points throughout the entire match, to silence the German crowd at the Rochusclub in Dusseldorf. The 24 year-old hit two aces and won 25 of 32 points on serve. The World No.25 improves to 12-10 this season, highlighted by a semi-final in Auckland (l. to del Potro).
This marked the first time in Schuettler’s career that he had been on the receiving end of such a scoreline.
In 2008, Soderling led Sweden to their fourth title and became only the third player to win all four singles and four doubles matches during the same week.
