Youzhny dashes Austrian hopes

No.7 seed Mikhail Youzhny recorded his third straight win in five clay-court meetings against home favourite Jurgen Melzer.

Youzhny booked his place in a second semi-final of the 2009 ATP World Tour season, after beating Melzer 6-4, 6-4 in 88 minutes. Youzhny hit five aces and won 42 of 63 service points to win his 16th match of the year. Melzer, who turned 28 on Friday, drops to 10-15 for the season.

The Russian, who reached Munich final ( Berdych), will attempt to reach his 10th ATP World Tour Final of his career when he takes on Spainard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
