Australian pair Jelena Dokic and Samantha Stosur have progressed to the second round of the French Open, barely having to raise a sweat.
Dokic fought back from a one set deficit to overcome Croatian Karolina Sprem 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 in 90 minutes, but is now scheduled to face No.4 seed Elena Dementieva in the next round.
Despite serving nine double-faults and making more unforced errors than her opponent, Dokic won 65 percent of her points on serve copmpared to her opponent’s 51 percent and broke the Croatian five times to seal the victory.
Meanwhile, Stosur had a more comfortable time in recording a straight-sets win over Italy’s Francesca Schiavone 6-4 6-2. The No.30 seed, who faces Belgian Yanina Wickmayer in the next round, completed the win in 70 minutes and most of the credit was for her dominant serving display.
