Former No.1 Maria Sharapova kept her French Open dream alive when the Russian reached the quarter-finals with a 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 victory over China’s Li Na.
Sharapova, who is on the comeback trail after a nine-month injury layoff, will meet Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova for a place in the last four.
The three-time grand slam champion, who has dropped to 102nd in the rankings, needed three sets to advance from each round, dropped serve twice but broke serve three times to clinch the opening set before fading away in the second.
Sharapova took a medical time out to have her left thigh treated and was handed the decisive break in the seventh game before wrapping up the win in two hours and 13 minutes on her first match point.
