Russian Maria Sharapova was satisfied with her first match on grass after defeating Canadian Stephanie Dubois in the first round of the AEGON Classic in Edgbaston.
The 22 year-old, who recently returned from a 10-month absence due to a shoulder injury, appears to be rediscovering her old form.
After making the quarter-finals of the French Open, the former No.1 made the transfer to grass smoothly despite the weather in Birmingham restricting her to just 30 minutes practice during the weekend.
Sharapova dispatched Dubois 6-4, 6-2 in 74 minutes at a venue which has broguht her good results. She lifted the title in 2004, the year she triumphed at Wimbledon and again in 2005.
