World No.4 Novak Djokovic booked his place in the semi-finals of the Gerry Weber Open after defeating No.7 seed Jurgen Melzer 6-1, 6-4.

Two breaks of serve in the fourth and sixth games secured the first set for the Serbian and he carried the momentum to the second set as he broke for a 3-1 lead. The Austrian held firm as he broke back after a loose game from Djokovic to lead 4-3, but the former World No.3 regrouped to win the final three games to secure the win in 66 minutes.

The 22 year-old Djokovic has bounced back strongly after suffering a surprise defeat to Philipp Kohlschreiber in the third round of Roland Garros. The right-hander has clinched titles in Dubai (d. Ferrer) and Belgrade (d. Kubot).

Next up for Djokovic is Belgian Steve Darcis, who continued his run with a 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-3 win over German Benjamin Becker.
