Former World No.1 Maria Sharapova remains on track for a third grass court title after moving through to the semi-finals of the AEGON Classic.
Sharapova started well but was forced to work hard as she escaped with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 win.
The Russian, who is unseeded at the tournament due to an injury lay-off, produced strong service games in a match that went for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
The former Wimbledon champion will face China’s Na Li in the last four, after she progressed with a straight-sets win over Swiss Stefanie Voegele.
The No.4 seed, comfortably won the first set 6-3 but was forced to work a lot harder in the second, coming out on top with a 7-6(3) win.
