Spaniard David Ferrer opened his account at the Ordina Open with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Dutch wild card Jesse Huta Galung.

Ferrer dropped serve once in each set, but capitalised on five of 12 break points during the one hour and 33 minute match to improve to 6-0 mark and a 14-8 career mark on his least preferred surface. Last year, on his Ordina Open debut, he clinched the title without the loss of a single set.

The 27 year-old will now face his compatriot Oscar Hernandez, who beat Austrian Daniel Koellerer 6-3, 6-2.
