Verdasco suffers surprise loss

Spaniard Fernando Verdasco crashed out in the Ordina Open, ‘s-Hertogenbosch after suffering a straight sets defeat to Benjamin Becker in the second round.

The top seed lost 7-5, 7-6(4) in one hour and 43 minutes, failing to capitalise on three break point chances. Becker hit 10 aces and won 72 percent of points on serve over his more fancied opponent.

The 25 year-old Verdasco, drops 27-11 this season. Last week, the World No.8 was beaten by Philipp Petzschner in the opening round of Halle.

Becker will now face Frenchman Michael Llodra, who beat Belgian Kristof Vliegen 6-2, 6-3.
