Tursunov survives scare

Russian Dmitry Tursunov avoided an early exit from the AEGON International after surviving a stern test from British qualifier Alex Bogdanovic before running out a 6-7(2), 6-4, 7-6(5) win.

The 25 year-old Bogdanovic hit 14 aces and nine double faults, but could only convert one of eight break point opportunities. Tursunov, a second round loser in Halle last week, had surgery in May to remove large bone spurs.

Tursunov will now play Uzbekistani Denis Istomin, who advanced to his first ATP World Tour quarter-final after knocking out No.6 seed Sam Querrey 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-4.
