Russian Dmitry Tursunov booked his place in the semi-finals of the AEGON International for the second time after triumphing over Denis Istomin 7-6(6), 6-4.
The World No.27, who reached the semi-finals in 2007 (l. to Karlovic), saved all three break points aginst him – while converting just one of 10 on his opponent’s serve – to secure the win in 93 minutes.
The 26 year-old Tursunov, last reached the semi-finals of an ATP World Tour event when he picked up his sixth ATP World Tour title with victory over Paul-Henri Mathieu. If he wins his semi-final encounter, Tursunov will make his first appearance in a grass court final.
The No.2 seed will now face Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez for a place in the title match after prevailing against Serbian Janko Tipsarevic 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
