Czech No.1 Iveta Benesova, who would have expected her compatriot Petra Kvitova to win her second round match, thereby setting up a meeting in the Prague Open quarter-finals.
Third seeded Benesova, who edged her place in the last eight with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Romanian Monica Niculescu, her next opponent will be a player who she may know nothing about.
Eighth seeded Kvitova was stunned by 15 year-old Zarina Diyas 6-4, 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals. World No. 295 Diyas, who was making her WTA debut, was given a wildcard because she is based in Prague.
