Australian hopes given a boost

Australia’s chance of retaining the Hopman Cup in 11 years has been given a massive boost with organisers securing the country’s two best players Lleyton Hewitt and Samantha Stosur to team up at the 2010 event.

Hewitt, who recently reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals, will return to Perth after playing alongside Casey Dellacqua last year.

Stosur has chosen to round off her Australian Open preparations with a visit to the Burswood Dome hardcourts.

World No.41 Hewitt, who recently won in Houston, Hewitt’s ranking will continue to rise with each victory on the ATP Tour due to that he has no more points to defend from August 16 onwards.

Stosur jumped into the spotlight with her form at the 2009 French Open reaching the semi-finals, before losing a close match to Svetlana Kuznetsova.
