French tennis player Nathalie Dechy is announcing her retirement from professional tennis.
The French Tennis Federation released a statement saying that the 30 year-old Dechy has decided to end her career as she is expecting her first child and wants to devote more time with her family.
The Frenchwoman reached the semi-finals at the Australian Open in 2005, but has slumped to 88th.
Dechy’s career is highlighted with a singles victory in 2003 at the Gold Coast and two Grand Slam doubles titles at the US Open in 2006 and 2007.
Dechy has played Fed Cup since 2000, participating in both singles and doubles.
