The importance of pre-match meals

Before a tennis match, it is essential to have a good level of carbohydrates, electrolytes and sodium to maintain a healthy state of mind. Time and time again, we witness players on court fatiguing too soon before having to forfeit their match. This is mainly because they haven’t had the right food to eat or they basically haven’t eaten at all. Have you ever wondered why Rafael Nadal maintains such a high intensity throughout a match? This is largely attributed to the energy gels that he nibbles on right before the coin toss.  These small snacks give him a boost of energy for a period of time.

If I have just indulged your minds, I would suggest you have a look at the video that I have pasted below which teaches how to make homemade energy gel. You of course can buy these gels in supermarkets but you may want to consider making your own since they will save you a good deal of money. This is definitely a video to watch if you are an endurance athlete. (Video made by marckrejci).
