The 2011 Australian Open has seen some new faces in the commentary box, with the likes of Patrick Rafter and Lleyton Hewitt. Perhaps the most surprising was Hewitt, who had just lost in the first-round of this year’s Open coming in for a brief stint. The 29-year old is no stranger to the commentary box, having earlier this year guest commentated at the Hopman Cup.
While many have praised Hewitt’s tennis insight and gameplay, others have accused him of bias. If the former World No.1 chooses to continue in the commentary box, it would bring stark comparisons with John McEnroe who picked up a microphone and proved that he isn’t always boisterous and temperamental.
