On this day…

30 years ago, Lleyton Hewitt was brought into the world by Cherilyn and Glynn Hewitt, who were champion netballers and footballers respectively. The sporting genes were surely passed onto their son, who became the youngest World No.1 at the age of 20 and winning the 2001 US Open and 2002 Wimbledon titles. 2011 will probably be Hewitt’s final full year on the tennis circuit, as fatherhood becomes a main priority for the Australian. Although critics have been quick to pounce on Hewitt’s lack of success over recent years, he will sorely be missed by Australian fans when he calls time.
