This sums up Australian tennis

Australian tennis had been looking positive with Bernard Tomic reaching the Wimbledon quarter-finals last year and Samantha Stosur winning her first Grand Slam title at the US Open. However, their early exits at Wimbledon capped off Australia’s worst performance since 1939. Many former Australian players have criticized Tennis Australia (TA), pointing out that their coaching systems have become less personal for e.g. prospective players having three coaches in the space of a year.

It is difficult to pinpoint the main problem but clearly there are not enough players coming through. They must also utilise their resources more effectively. Todd Woodbridge has been given the task of heading men’s tennis and commentating/hosting Seven’s coverage of the tennis. That to me, is too much responsibility for one person. In fact, to not even know who your future champions are suggests that he’s had too much on his plate.
